Al is a senior executive with extensive experience across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors in Australia, West Africa, UK/Europe, and the Middle East. Al has a strong background in managing complex commercial and stakeholder environments, delivering high-value programs, corporate governance, and risk management. Before re-joining Aspen Medical in 2022, Al served in the Victorian Public Service as Deputy CEO of a safety regulator and Associate Deputy Secretary for various health programs. Al is also an Australian Army veteran deployed in JTF 652, Operation Vic Fire Assist, and CTF 635, Operation Anode.
In his previous role at Aspen Medical, Al successfully managed a region within a national Defence health service, served as the Country Director for Sierra Leone during the Ebola Outbreak crisis of 2014-2015, and led Aspen Medical UK before becoming General Manager of Aspen Medical Middle East.
Al holds a Global Executive Master of Business Administration from Monash University, a Master of Leadership with a major in Change Management and a Bachelor of Training and Development from the University of New England. He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and serves as Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairperson of Nadrasca, a Melbourne disability organisation.

The Malpa program has been delivered to about 3,000 students across Australia and is being expanded to schools in WA for the first time thanks to generous funding from global charity Alcoa Foundation. The funding will assist the Aspen Medical Foundation to continue working with Malpa, which it has done for more than a decade.
