About the scholarship
The Aspen Medical Foundation supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students on their journey into healthcare. We believe a strong health system is built on diversity, cultural safety and lived experience. Through this scholarship, we aim to reduce financial barriers so you can focus on your goals and thrive in your studies. Your path into healthcare matters: it helps shape a workforce that better reflects and serves communities now and for generations to come.

Each scholarship is valued at $10,000 per year and is offered for the full duration of your qualification. It can support:

You can apply for this scholarship if you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander OR are enrolled in a health-related tertiary program delivered by an Australian university or registered training organisation.

What can you study?

To be eligible, you must be enrolled in one of the following health-related study areas:

dentistry
dental science
dental surgery
dietetics
medicine
midwifery
nursing
paramedicine
pharmacy                  
physiotherapy              
podiatry
psychology
radiography
social work
sonography
speech pathology
surgery.
 
How to apply

To complete the application, you’ll need:

  • a personal statement (up to 500 words)
  • the name and length of your current qualification
  • details of any other scholarships, bursaries or financial support you’re receiving.

In your personal statement, we want to learn more about you. Include information about:

  • your family, country and community
  • your interests and hobbies
  • your reasons for choosing a health-related qualification
  • your career goals and aspirations.

The form takes around 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

You can’t save and return to it later, so we recommend having everything ready before you begin.

Frequently asked questions

Once you submit your application, we’ll carefully review all submissions and notify all applicants of the outcome. If you are shortlisted, we may request additional information before final decisions are made.

You need to maintain a pass average and continue to meet the conditions of the scholarship in order to remain eligible.

You must let us know before making any changes to your enrolment. Your eligibility will be reviewed and we will confirm whether you can continue receiving the scholarship.

Before you apply, you must tell us about any other scholarships or bursaries you receive, including their value and conditions. If you are awarded another scholarship after receiving ours, you must notify us so we can confirm your continued eligibility. 

Yes. If you are unsuccessful and are continuing your studies, you're welcome to apply again in future rounds.
