Following a competitive tender process, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) has chosen Aspen Medical to provide medical personnel for the Marine National Facility (MNF) on board the new research vessel Investigator.

Aspen Medical will provide an integrated suite of enhanced medical services for remote voyages including an enhanced pre-voyage medical screening standard, pre-voyage medical screening, on-board medical support, consumables, supplies and equipment as required.  The company will also assist CSIRO to provide an enhanced medical facility on board Investigator in addition to the vessel’s standard medical facility.

Glenn Keys AO, Aspen Medical’s Executive Chairman and Founder, says that the company specialises in delivering guaranteed healthcare solutions in remote, challenging and under-resourced environments where the highest quality of healthcare delivery is required.

Investigator will dramatically improve our national marine knowledge, putting Australia at the forefront of ocean research globally. The scientists and crew can be safe in the knowledge that world class healthcare services and equipment are on board throughout remote area voyages,” he said.

Investigator is a 93.9 metre purpose-built research vessel, capable of travelling 10,800 nautical miles in a single voyage, carrying up to 40 scientists and support staff, from the equator to the Antarctic ice-edge. The $120 million ship was completed in 2014, and will support atmospheric, oceanographic, biological and geoscience research.
