Foreign Minister, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, paid tribute to the entire Aspen Medical Ebola Response team at an event held at Parliament House in Canberra on 24 June 2015.

Guests included health professionals who worked at  the Hastings Airfield Ebola Treatment Centre (ETC), members of the Aspen Medical team who supported the operation and representatives of the Department of Foreign Affiars and Trade (DFAT) and the High Commissions of New Zealand and Great Britain.

In her speech, Ms Bishop said that the success of the ETC was "due to the professionalism, dedication and the skill of the team that Aspen [Medical] put together."

“Indeed the United Kingdom paid great tribute to our Ebola Treatment Centre. They said that Aspen Medical was sound across the board, there were no gaps in capability or capacity. High praise indeed from another government,” she said.

Dr John Gerrard, Director of Infectious Diseases and Immunology at Gold Coast University Hospital, and member of the first deployed team, responded on behalf of the Ebola Response team.
