Following a competitive tender process, the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS) has chosen Aspen Medical to provide medical personnel for their new fleet of eight Cape Class Patrol Boats, as well as for the long-range ACV Ocean Shield vessel.

Aspen Medical will provide advanced care paramedics and doctors to the fleet and each vessel is fitted with a medical clinic which includes a hospital bed, medical equipment and consumables. The patrol boats will be at sea for up to 28 days in northern waters and 43 days in southern waters.

Glenn Keys AO, Aspen Medical’s Executive Chairman and Founder, says that the company specialises in delivering guaranteed healthcare solutions in remote, challenging and under-resourced environments where the highest quality of healthcare delivery is required.

“The patrol boats are at sea for extended periods and it requires medical practitioners with considerable skills and mental strength to work in this challenging environment. Our robust and comprehensive clinical credentialing process makes sure we have the right people for the job of protecting and caring for those who protect our borders.

“We are proud that the Australian Government has once again selected Aspen Medical to provide critical healthcare services to its employees.” he said.

In addition to this contract Aspen Medical has won a number of competitive tenders to provide healthcare services to Australian Governments departments including Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade, Health and the Australian Federal Police, and to multinational companies such as Origin Energy and BHP Billiton. The company also provides services to overseas Government agencies from the US, the UK and the Gulf region.
