Aspen Medical has been announced as the preferred supplier and has commenced discussions with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to support the provision of a 100-bed Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) in Sierra Leone. Under the proposed arrangements Aspen Medical will be responsible for all services provided in the ETU, including clinical and logistics. This service will be coordinated as part of the United Kingdom’s efforts for Ebola treatment in Sierra Leone to treat Sierra Leone citizens who have contracted Ebola.

Aspen Medical already has a presence in North West Africa where it has been running a clinic in Liberia for several months. 

As announced today by the Hon Peter Dutton MP: "The Australian Government will increase its $18 million contribution to the global response to Ebola and is in discussions with Aspen Medical to manage and run a 100-bed Ebola treatment facility in Sierra Leone, as part of the United Kingdom's efforts in that country. The use of a medical provider such as Aspen Medical, provides an efficient and effective response to the situation in Sierra Leone and draws on valuable Australian expertise."
