Aspen Medical has been named as the ACT Exporter of the Year 2015.  The award was presented by Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA at a gala awards ceremony in the National Arboretum in Canberra on Thursday 22 October.  The company also picked up the Health and Biotechnology category on its way to the overall award.

“It has been an incredible year for our team at home and overseas.  Our innovative service delivery has seen us successfully launch new operations in Africa, the US and Gulf region by exporting our healthcare expertise, project management skills and ‘can do’ attitude. We have also expanded our operations across the Pacific and Middle East, dramatically increasing our footprint in these regions,” said Glenn Keys AO, Executive Chairman of Aspen Medical. .

“We’re looking forward to representing the ACT at the national awards in Melbourne in late November,” he added.

Aspen Medical’s export revenue grew by over 70% in 2014/15 financial year  The company’s key achievements over the period include:

• West Africa: delivery of seven Ebola Treatment Centres in Sierra Leone and  Liberia on behalf of the US, UK and Australian Government, achieving a zero infection rate amongst the entire workforce, despite an overall 20% cross-contamination rate amongst health professionals. Expansion of Ebola-related and private healthcare services in Liberia.
• Solomon Islands: awarded sole provider status to deliver primary healthcare, aero-medical evacuation, surgery and intensive care services to the Australian Federal Police until 2017.
• United Arab Emirates: Delivery of the National Ambulance service across the UAE, the acquisition of a training organisation and delivery of medical training to over 10,000 military personnel in the Middle East.

In recent weeks Aspen Medical has opened a private clinic in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and has commenced aero-medical evacuation and general aviation services from its base in Liberia where it will serve several countries in West Africa. The company also recently launched ambulance services in Texas.
