About the scholarship
The Aspen Medical Foundation is proud to support nurses at Ba and Lautoka Hospitals through a dedicated scholarship program. This opportunity is designed to help you complete a postgraduate nursing qualification, grow your career and strengthen care in your community.

We recognise the impact you make every day and the value of specialist skills in ICU and perioperative nursing. This scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers and support your professional development while you continue your essential work in Fiji’s health system.

The scholarship provides financial support with tuition fees while you complete your postgraduate studies. Supported areas of study at Fiji National University include:
Medical emergency symbol.
Postgraduate Diploma in ICU Nursing
Specialised care for the critically ill.

Postgraduate Diploma in Perioperative Nursing
Exceptional care before, during and after surgery.

Check that you meet the criteria

You are eligible to apply if you: 

  • are currently working at Ba Hospital or Lautoka Hospital
  • have completed at least two years of employment at Ba or Lautoka Hospital
  • are enrolled or planning to enrol in an approved postgraduate diploma at Fiji National University
  • commit to two years of employment with Aspen Medical after completing your qualification.  

What can you study?

Scholarships are available for the following courses at Fiji National University. 

  • Postgraduate Diploma in ICU Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Perioperative Nursing

These specialised courses are designed to strengthen critical care capability and respond to clinical needs across Fijian health services. 

How to apply

To complete your application, you’ll need: 

  • a personal statement (up to 500 words)
  • details about your postgraduate course and enrolment
  • information about your employment and clinical experience. 

 In your personal statement, please include: 

  • your family and community
  • your interests and career motivation
  • why you chose to specialise in nursing
  • your goals for the future. 

The form takes around 15 to 20 minutes to complete. 

As the form cannot be saved partway through, we suggest preparing your information before you begin. 

Frequently asked questions

After the application period closes, all submissions will be reviewed. We may request more information from shortlisted candidates before notifying all applicants of the outcome. 

To remain eligible, you must maintain a pass average in your studies and continue to meet the requirements of the scholarship. 

Any changes to your enrolment must be discussed with the Aspen Medical Foundation before they are made. We will review your eligibility and confirm whether the scholarship can continue. 

If awarded a scholarship, you must commit to a two-year employment period with Aspen Medical at Ba or Lautoka Hospital following completion of your course. If you resign during this period, you may be required to repay part of the scholarship. 

Yes. If you're still eligible and continuing your studies, you can submit another application in future rounds.
