Comprehensive healthcare for a large-scale infrastructure workforce

Background
Since 2022, Aspen Medical has provided end-to-end healthcare services for a major infrastructure workforce based at a remote Australian construction site and accommodation village. The site supports a peak workforce of approximately 1,800 personnel and demands a consistent, self-contained medical capability suited to high-risk, isolated environments.
Approach
Aspen Medical provides a fully integrated, multidisciplinary medical service delivered by a 20-person clinical team. This includes advanced care paramedics, registered nurses, physicians, physiotherapists and X-ray operators, supported by project management staff.
Key services include:
- 24/7 emergency response
- primary and occupational healthcare
- physiotherapy and injury prevention
- diagnostic imaging, emergency dental and pathology
- fitness-for-duty and vaccination programs
- medication supply, clinic governance and reporting
- environmental health risk profiling and emergency skills training
- mine-spec ambulances with advanced life support.
This service model focuses on early intervention, rapid recovery and workforce health optimisation—critical in a remote, high-risk setting where access to off-site care is limited.
Results
Between May and August 2024 alone, Aspen Medical’s on-site team:
- managed around 3,000 patient visits
- delivered nearly 800 physiotherapy consultations
- monitored clinical trends to identify and mitigate emerging health risks
Regular collaboration with the client’s emergency response and safety teams strengthens on-site preparedness and injury prevention.
Outcome
Aspen Medical’s presence has reduced lost workdays, minimised downtime and enhanced workforce safety in one of Australia’s most remote industrial settings. Our integrated, proactive approach continues to support safe and effective project delivery in a high-demand, geographically isolated environment.
