Patients at the Aspen Medical-managed Ba Hospital will benefit from faster response times and an enhanced standard of care following the introduction of a new Nurse Call System.

The system provides patients with a direct and reliable way to alert nursing staff when they need assistance, helping clinical teams respond more quickly while strengthening patient safety and improving the overall hospital experience.

Aspen Medical (Fiji) Chief Operating Officer Barry Herberts said the investment reflects the organisation's commitment to delivering modern, patient-centred healthcare for the people of Fiji.

"Beyond Fiji, this sends a strong message across the Pacific that we're not just catching up – we're moving forward with real intent and commitment to our patients," Mr Herberts said.

"International best practice isn't just something we talk about anymore; it's now literally a button on the wall at Ba Hospital. Our patients will benefit from this every day."

The new system is another example of how technology can improve healthcare by supporting clinicians to deliver timely care while giving patients greater confidence that help is always close at hand.

The new Nurse Call System adds to a series of significant improvements delivered by Aspen Medical across Fiji's Western Division. These include the opening of a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory providing advanced cardiac care closer to home, the introduction of Fiji's first public hospital MRI service in the Western Division, and the expansion of Lautoka Hospital's Emergency Department with a dedicated Fast Track Unit to improve patient flow and reduce waiting times. Together, these investments are helping build a stronger, more modern public health system for Fijians.
