Dr Alex Cockram GAICD

Alex is an experienced Board Director across health, home and aged care, emergency services, government policy and large-scale precinct infrastructure development in Australia. 

She is a Non-Executive Director of Epworth HealthCare, one of the largest not-for-profit hospital providers in Australia, and Silver Chain Group, a national home and healthcare provider. As a government and industry advisor, Alex provides expertise in the development of collaborative strategies in health, including across acute health service reform, mental health and ambulance system reform and operations, national disability reform, workforce reform and development, and developments for the West of Melbourne. 

Alex has held a number of significant leadership and governance roles, including serving as Chair of Triple Zero Victoria, where she oversaw reform, accountability and the implementation of the Triple Zero Victoria Act 2023. She was also appointed as a Commissioner to the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, contributing to a transformative vision and roadmap for system reform that has been adapted nationally and internationally and resulted in significant investment in services in Victoria. 

As a psychiatrist by training, clinician and leader in mental health and acute healthcare, Alex brings deep clinical and operational insight to her board roles. She is committed to providing an inclusive workplace that is safe, highly participatory and drives an accountable, respectful and positive culture. Her executive career includes CEO roles across the health and emergency services sectors. 

Alex holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Monash University and a Master of Medicine from the University of Melbourne. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and a Graduate and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
