Craig Fitzgerald
Craig Fitzgerald has led the Aspen Medical Foundation since it was established in 2008. As Chief Executive Officer, he is responsible for turning the Foundation’s vision into action, ensuring its support reaches communities and populations that continue to face barriers to quality healthcare.
Craig brings a strong operational lens to the Foundation’s work. Over a career spanning government, private and not-for-profit sectors, he has delivered complex programs across Australia and internationally. His early career in the Australian Department of Defence gave him a deep understanding of strategy, logistics and large-scale service delivery, while his experience managing health, infrastructure and workforce programs has shaped his practical approach to community-led solutions.
His leadership is guided by a clear set of values: that healthcare should be equitable, sustainable and shaped by the communities it serves. These principles underpin the Foundation’s investment decisions and its support for initiatives that build local capacity and deliver measurable outcomes.
Craig works closely with the Foundation’s Board and partners to ensure every decision is focused, transparent and accountable. Beyond his role with the Foundation, he contributes to the broader social impact sector through board appointments and by mentoring social enterprises across Australia and the region. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Master of Management from the University of Canberra.
