Wherever we’re needed - our team lives our motto in Sierra Leone.
In response to the recent large scale flooding that resulted in several deaths and considerable property destruction in Freetown, Sierra Leone, our team responded rapidly to join the relief effort assisting the Ministry of Health and multiple aid agencies in the capital.
“We were fortunate enough to have the right people in the right place at the right time and were proud to be able to assist the people of Freetown at this difficult time,” said Glenn Keys, Aspen Medical’s Executive Director and co-founder.
Shortly after the flooding began, the Aspen Medical private clinic in Freetown received requests to donate aid, specifically pharmaceuticals. Members of the team visited the local stadium, to which aid was being delivered and from which it was being coordinated. After assessing the situation, we delivered vital pharmaceuticals to the doctors providing critical care to patients. We also sourced and delivered 7,000 drinks to Save the Children on behalf of a local businessman.
“We’ve been in Freetown for nearly 12 months leading the charge in the fight against Ebola. We have come to know these amazing and incredibly resilient people very well and our team feel part of the local community. It wasn’t a matter of if we would help rather how quickly we could help,” he said.
