We're going to need a bigger trophy cabinet

We were delighted to collect three prestigious awards over the past few months that showcased what we are all about – providing innovative healthcare solutions in remote, challenging and under-resourced environments.

ACT Exporter of the Year: Health & Biotechnology Category and Overall Winner

First up was our September win at the ACT Exporter of the Year Awards.  Not only did we win the Health & Biotechnology category but we also took home the overall winner gong.  The category win meant that we went to the national finals (see below).  Appropriately enough Glenn was out of the country working on some business development initiatives so the awards were collected by Chief-of-Staff Bruce Armstrong.  We got some good local press around the win and you can check that out on the News & Media section of the website by clicking here.

Innovation Champion Award

We’d only drawn breath from that win when we were awarded the title Innovation Champion 2013 by Adelaide Research & Innovation for our ground-breaking work in the Aero-Medical Evacuation sector in the Oil & Gas industry across WA.  The award was collected by Grant Matthews, Aspen’s Commercial Director.

So, what exactly was the award for? Well, we engaged the University of Adelaide’s Mathematics Department to develop a model which primarily assesses at what point there might be insufficient aviation and medical assets, air crew, medical crew, infrastructure etc. to meet a patient requirement for evacuation and therefore have significant impact on the patient’s health outcome. The software modelling tool takes into account a large range of variable factors.

National Export Award – Health & Biotechnology

Last week we followed through on our ACT Export Awards win by winning the National Exporter Award in the Health & Biotechnology category.  This is the second time we have won the category award at the national finals (we also won in 2011).  This win makes us the first company from the ACT to win twice at the nationals and we are one of only four ACT companies to have won in the 51 years of the awards.

The award was presented to Glenn Keys by Australia’s Prime Minister, the Hon Tony Abbott MP, at the ceremony in Melbourne.  To read more about the win, click here.
