Description

Aspen Medical has been contracted to provide onsite medical services and personnel on behalf of our Oil and Gas customer, Shell Energy Australia. Some of the services delivered at operational sites include medical emergency response and emergency medical care, primary health care, and occupational health management. 

We are seeking an Intensive Care Paramedic (Medic) that will provide a range of primary healthcare and occupational health management. This is a three (3) year fixed term role commencing after credentialing and onboarding.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • providing timely occupational health-related services, including Medical Emergency Response & Emergency Medical Care, Mass Casualty Management, Primary Health Care / Injury & Illness Management, Fitness to Work (FTW) Assessments, Medical Surveillance (MS) Assessment, Rehabilitation & Return to Work (RTW), Incident Investigation, Reporting & Classification, Drug & Alcohol Testing, Health Promotion & Wellness, Infection Control Management, Food & Drinking Water Safety, Education and Training of Work Groups, Participation as a HSSE Team Member, and Health Hazard Risk Assessment and Management
  • participating as an Emergency Response Team Member with assigned responsibilities described within the Site Emergency Response Plan
  • complying with Clinical Governance Frameworks providing evidence-based, client-focused and transparent health services that demonstrate advanced clinical nursing care and comprehensive decision making
  • assisting in developing, implementing, managing, and assessing the site staff induction program.
Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 
  • current and unconditional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Paramedic
  • qualified to work as a Paramedic in a public ambulance service in Australian or New Zealand jurisdictions (includes those that hold a primary paramedic qualification; Bachelor's degree in Paramedic or Health Science, or equivalent)
  • have completed post graduate studies / internships, leading to a qualification:
  1. Intensive Care Paramedic – Graduate Diploma (ICP) or Masters (ICP). This may include MICA, Paramedic Clinical Manager (Royal Australian Navy), ICP (ALS) Level 5 Paramedic.
  2. Retrieval Paramedic – Graduate Certificate (RP) or Masters (RP). This may include Flight Paramedic, Air Ambulance Paramedic, MICA Flight Paramedic, Critical Care Paramedic, Flight ICP, AME Medic (ADF).
  • current certification in Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training and certification, International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • current certification in Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • five (5) years’ work experience in emergency medicine
  • three (3) years’ work experience at remote locations.
