Part Time Registered Nurse - Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility

Hours of Work: 38 per week (7 day rotating roster)

Location: The role is based in Canning Vale, WA

Please note there are multiple positions available

Correctional Healthcare Solutions (CHS), a brand owned and operated by Aspen Medical, is focused on providing healthcare services in remand, sentenced and reintegration environments. We are seeking a Registered Nurse to support our Correctional Healthcare Clinic based at Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility (MRRF).

Working alongside a Mental Health Nurse, a Consultant Psychiatrist and other healthcare professionals, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement care of inmates within a medium-sized correctional services facility.

The responsibiliies of the role include:

  • developing and reviewing individualised healthcare plans in conjunction with the patient, healthcare team and other healthcare services, as appropriate.
  • conduct and monitor assessments of patients deemed to be at risk
  • responding to clinical emergencies as per documented protocols
  • administration of all Schedule 8 Medications in accordance with Doctor’s prescription and the Poisons Permit issued by WA Department of Health

Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 

Essential Skills and Qualification

  • Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent
  • unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • significant clinical experience commensurate with the role in any of the following settings: 
  1. Primary Health Care
  2. Emergency Care; 
  3. Alcohol Tobacco and other Drugs; 
  4. Mental Health;
  5. Women’s Health; 
  6. Chronic Disease Management.
  • minimum of 250 hrs clinical experience in one or more of the above settings within the past 12 mths.
  • experience working with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary and team environment demonstrating initiative and flexibility in an environment subject to pressure and change
  • Department of Justice clearance or eligible to obtain
  • previous experience working in a maximum security correctional facility would be viewed favourably
