Location: The role is based in Canning Vale, Perth

Correctional Healthcare Solutions (CHS), a brand owned and operated by Aspen Medical focused on providing healthcare services in remand, sentenced, and reintegration environments are seeking a Mental Health Registered Nurse to support our Correctional Healthcare Clinic based at Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility.

The Mental Health Registered Nurse will be working alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist and other healthcare professionals. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, upon gaining a Department of Justice clearance. 

The responsibilities of this role include:
  • formulate and document care plans in consultation with the patient, or groups of patients
  • review patient’s information on departmental systems before their attendance to the daily Prisoner Risk Assessment Group meetings
  • manage the Mental Health Risk Register and provide priority ratings to the Department of Corrective Services as required
  • facilitate discharge planning for prisoners before release, including liaising with community agencies to ensure a safe transition from custodial care.

 

Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 
  • Bachelor of Nursing, or equivalent
  • current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA)
  • postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health, or equivalent
  • minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience, including a minimum of 250 hours of clinical experience, in a mental health setting within the past 12 months
  • evidence of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), with evidence of a practical component.
