Locum General Practitioners

Correctional Healthcare Solutions (CHS), a brand owned and operated by Aspen Medical focused on providing healthcare services in remand, sentenced and reintegration environments is seeking a General Practitioners to support our Correctional Healthcare Clinic based at Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility (MRRF).

The General Practitioners will provide general practice consultations in accordance with the defined scope of practice, including referral to secondary and tertiary healthcare services. 

Successful candidates will need to:

  • provide a medical response to clinical emergencies as per clinical healthcare Correctional Health Services protocols
  • develop individualised healthcare plans for implementation by the healthcare team and other healthcare services, as appropriate
  • provide medical oversight and medical assessment of persons deemed to be at risk in accordance with clinical healthcare policy
  • liaise with correctional staff and other healthcare team members to deliver positive clinical outcomes
  • ensure all documentation is maintained thoroughly and accurately.
Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or an Australian/Overseas equivalent recognised by the Australian Medical Council
  • current unrestricted registration as a General Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • evidence of Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or vocational registration. Additional qualifications or recognition may be required for the provision of specific clinical services, procedures or other interventions
  • evidence of completion of previous triennium requirements and active participation in continuing education recognised by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Quality Improvement and Continuous Professional Development (RACGP QI & CPD) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine-Professional Development Program (ACRRM PDP), or other specialist colleges, as applicable
  • details of all past and continuing health care related employment and particularly that in General Practice (as a recognised General Practitioner)
  • evidence of current professional indemnity insurance as a General Practitioner (Level 1)
  • eligible to obtain relevant security/vetting clearances.
