About us

Correctional Healthcare Solutions (CHS) is a part of the Aspen Medical Group. CHS provides a large range of primary healthcare services to correctional facilities which includes the provision of doctors, nurses, allied health and mental health professionals.  CHS is seeking applications from suitably experienced and qualified General Practitioners for both long and short term full time and part time contracts, and casual work at the newly constructed Melaleuca Remand and Rehabilitation facility for women in Canning Vale. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your correctional healthcare experience, working for a trusted and experienced international provider.

About the role:

As a General Practitioner you will provide comprehensive care to a vulnerable and at risk population and encounter a broad range of medical conditions. Utilising a holistic, non-judgemental and patient centred approach, your previous experience working in the corrections environment will be critical and will enable you to make a meaningful contribution to the health and rehabilitation of your patients. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including Registered Nurses and allied health professionals, you will conduct assessments, provide treatment and care coordination as well as play a key role in proactively educating and guiding patients to improve their overall health and wellbeing during their time in the facility and following their release.

In addition to experience working within the corrections environment, we are seeking candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Mental Health
  • Alcohol and other drugs
  • Women's Wellness and Sexual Health
  • Primary Health Care
Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 

To be successful in the role you will have to have the following:

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or an Australian/Overseas equivalent recognised by the Australian Medical Council.
  • Current unrestricted registration as a General Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) qualification
