General Practitioner – Wheatstone - FIFO

Description

Position Overview

Located near the town of Onslow is the Chevron operated Liquid Natural Gas plant (Wheatstone Project) for which Bechtel have been contracted to oversee construction.  Aspen has been sub-contracted to provide medical services which currently has a dependency of approximately 7,500 people making it at Aspen’s largest resource sector project in Western Australia. As a two week on/off FIFO General Practitioner on this large project, you will work with the medical services team and provide occupational health care services and emergency medicine in accordance with contractual requirements through:

  • Providing advanced medical assessment, diagnosis, care and intervention to patients within General Practitioner scope of practice;
  • Stabilising patients and coordinating aeromedical evacuations as required;
  • Developing and maintaining evaluation processes of patient outcomes relevant to the General Practitioner scope of practice;
  • Conducting required Health Assessments, programs and/or Care Plans utilising specified assessment tools applying a wellness approach, and developing goal orientated care planning in partnership with the consumers;
  • Contributing to the multidisciplinary nature of programs and services by delivering the unique skills and knowledge set of a General Practitioner;
  • Liaising with referral agencies, service providers, clients and consumer’s family/advocates to ensure best possible outcomes for all stakeholders.
Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical governance generally and ACHS, ACSQHC and NSQHS Frameworks and Standards
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in clinical audit Management of compliance KPI's, Incident Reporting, Investigation and Policy/Procedure review  and development
  • Experience in leading accreditation processes and complaints management (reporting, investigation and action)
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery or an Australian/Overseas equivalent recognised by the Australian Medical Council with current unrestricted registration as a General Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Evidence of Fellowship of RACGP or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or vocational registration. Additional qualifications or recognition may be required for the provision of specific clinical services, procedures or other interventions;
  • Compliance with and active participation in continuing education recognised by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Quality    Assurance and Continuous Professional Development (RACGP QA & CPD) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine-Professional  Development Program (ACRRM PDP) or other specialist college, as applicable;
  • Current and ongoing yearly Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), with evidence of a practical component; 
  • Ability to obtain initial credentialing and maintain credentialing status as a General Practitioner with Aspen;
  • Appropriate radiography certification and/or licence or able to obtain.
  • Current unrestricted drivers licence
  • Successful completion and maintenance of site induction requirements
