Description

Aspen Medical is seeking Aero-Medical Evacuation (AME) Doctors to provide 24/7 medical support to customers in the oil and gas sector through our Western Australia Resources Aero-Medical Evacuation (WARAME) service. 

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • provide quality and competent clinical care of all patients evacuated by the AME team;
  • day-to-day clinical oversight of paramedic;
  • fully complete orientation for replacement AME doctor;
  • comply with all Aspen WARAME Project documented procedures;
  • participate in other duties as required by The Manager, Karratha.

The role will be based in Karratha, Western Australia, with a 21-day rotation period. 

Experience, qualifications and documentation required: 
  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or international equivalent
  • current unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • evidence of Fellowship of either Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or vocational registration (VR) as a General Practitioner
  • evidence of Emergency Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) or Advanced Trauma Life Support within the last four years, or equivalent
  • evidence of completion of previous triennium requirements and active participation in continuing education recognised by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners - Quality Assurance and Continuous Professional Development (RACGP QA & CPD) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine-Professional Development Program (ACRRM PDP) or other specialist colleges, as applicable
  • evidence of recent AME experience
  • current professional medical indemnity insurance
  • two (2) professional referee details from medical Consultants who can attest to the applicant’s recent clinical experience in the management of critically ill patients and/or AME evacuations, (being a supervisor in an Intensive Care, Accident and Emergency or Critical Care Unit, colleague or critical care Specialist).
