Aspen Medical has been awarded the gold medal in the International Humanitarian Aid category at the International Project Management Association (IPMA) awards which were held in Warsaw, Poland, on Thursday 17 November. The company was recognised for its management of the Ebola Response effort on behalf of the Australian, New Zealand, US and UK governments in Sierra Leone and Liberia in 2014-2015.

The path to the global finals included wins in Aspen Medical's home state of the Australian Capital Territory, the Australian national finals, the Asia-Pacific regional finals and then the international finals in Warsaw.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Aspen Medical's Executive Chairman and Founder Glenn Keys AO  said, "This is an incredible honour for Aspen Medical. We would like to thank the IPMA for recognising the work of our team in pulling together a rapid response to a global threat in West Africa. Sadly, many lives were lost across the region but the international effort halted the spread of Ebola Virus Disease and we are proud to have been a part of that."

Ebola became known as the ‘Carer’s Disease’ due to the high rate of infection in health professionals. Consequently, Aspen Medical is particularly proud of the fact that a large team consisting of hundreds of health professionals and local staff, recorded a zero infection rate.

Pictured at the IPMA Awards in Warsaw are L-R: Glenn Keys (Co-Executive Chairman), Leo Cusack (Project Manager - West Africa), Al Martin (who was one of our In-Country Managers in West Africa at that time and now Business Director - UK & Europe).
